Dr. Megan Byer was born and raised in the Durham region and is excited to be providing eye care to her local community after having completed her residency in primary care and ocular disease at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago. She graduated Summa Cum Laude at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Florida. Dr. Byer furthered her skills and experience with several clinical internships, including an extended practicum at the number 1 ranked ophthalmic hospital in the United States, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where she worked alongside world-renowned ophthalmologists serving various subspecialty clinics, including cornea, medical and surgical retina, glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmology.

As a member of multiple honour societies, Dr. Byer has published works in the Optometry and Vision Science Journal, Heart of America, and American Academy of Optometry Conferences. Additionally, she was awarded the designation of FAAO—Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. This distinction is granted only after attaining excellence in the field of optometry, demonstration of professional competence and fulfillment of the rigorous qualifications set out by the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Byer is dedicated to continuously enhancing her knowledge to better care for and educate her patients. She believes this plays a key role in preserving and enhancing her patients’ vision. She has an enduring passion for optometry and, above all, insists on providing personal and comprehensive patient care. Her professional approach places particular emphasis on the treatment of dry eye, ocular disease, myopia management, and custom contact lenses. She firmly believes the best possible eye care can be accomplished only by investing time to get to know and understand the individual needs of each patient.

Dr. Byer is thrilled to be back home in the Durham region, intent on providing quality, modern eye care to her community. She has poured her heart and soul into the creation of an outstanding facility where she is excited to share her knowledge and experience.

Lexi settled in Durham Region two decades ago and brings with her several years of optical and customer service experience. She has been with Dr. Byer since the beginning of ERC and is excited to see its growth and success over the years to come. Lexi’s priority is the care and health of our patients and building lasting relationships with our customers. Her most endearing quality is her ability to connect with people by adding kindness and humor to patient interactions. At the end of the day her hope is to make everyone feel like family.

Tasha DiZazzo currently lives in Bowmanville and has been dedicated to providing exceptional vision care services in her local community for over 10 years.

Tasha enjoys contributing to the supportive atmosphere at ERC Optometry and is committed to educating patients about the advancements in lens technology and how it can impact their lives.

As an eyeglass addict and remarkable frame stylist, she is skilled at combining function and fashion to create exceptional eye wear that you will love.

AKA the eyeglass whisperer, Tasha loves a challenge and specializes in custom frame adjustments and fittings.
